Have you ever swum for Overlee?
Were you ever a coach, team rep, or parent volunteer?
Did you enjoy going to meets on Saturday’s to watch your kids, grandchildren, family members, loved ones, or friends compete?
If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then YOU are an Overlee Booster!
Beyond the competitiveness and commitment, Overlee is a large family oriented community. Being a part of the swim team in any capacity ties you to a long legacy of swimmers and supporters that spans over a half-century.
However, it has been pointed out that after you or your family stops swimming, it becomes harder to come back to meets and interact with the team. Too many stalwart parents and community members have felt aged out and distanced from the new upper deck regulars who show up to cheer on the team, while struggling to recognize a single name in the meet sheets.
Thats where we come in!
By providing weekly updates during the season, and important announcements throughout the year, we make it possible for you to keep up with your favorite summer swim team.
Maybe we care too much, or try too hard, but few can deny that their involvement with the Flying Fish–as a swimmer, coach, or supporter–was anything short of special.
Thats why we have our sights set on doing much more!
Beyond the updates, we want to preserve our combined history and individual memories to serve future generations of swimmers and supporters. Through this blog, we will archive everything from photos to stories, records and recordings, and much more. We encourage anyone to submit anything they may have, whether it be a picture from the Orange and White meet, to a video of a race at All-Star Relays, to your favorite Bob York or Beth Baker story. This way, Overlee Boosters–new and old–will be able to relish in our rich history.
Above all else–we are creating an everlasting community. From the moment you or your little ones start swimming in School of Fish or Sunday Night Swim, through graduation, and into the later years of life, you will always know where to go when you have an itch for the Orange and White!
